A local Twickenham family has donated a chess piece to the community giant chess board on Church Street.

Alex and Ben Jones, keen chess players and a local family have donated a White Queen to replace one that was damaged.

The Facebook page for Church Street posted the news and said: "Lovely local family & keen chess players Alex and Ben Jones have donated this White Queen (to replace the battered Queen) to add to the giant chess board in the Church Street Square!!

"Thank you so much it is very generous of you!"

The White Queen piece was stolen in November and was replaced with a spare one.

A spokesperson for Church Street told Nub News that about two weeks ago the replacement white queen was damaged and had to be repaired with gaffer tape.
