A new burger restaurant is set to takeover the site of a decades old eatery in Twickenham.

Posters from Gourmet Burger Club can be seen plastered around the windows of Caffè Del Mare on 55 York Street.

The Italian restaurant, which operated for nearly 30 years, shut back in February after a sale of the site.

Gourmet Burger Club has yet to announce an exact date for the grand opening, but said its 'coming soon'.

The eatery operates three other sites in Banstead, Cobham and Covent Garden.

Twickenham town - a pointless crossroads on the way to the stadium. Restaurants that only survive because of weekends with matches, vape stores and other valueless additions to what is now just another grim London suburb in the vein of Acton, Harlesden and others.
