Year 6 pupils at The Mall School in Twickenham are celebrating a fantastic set of 11+ results.

Over 80% of pupils received at least two senior or grammar school offers with more than half of pupils offered places at three or more schools.

Meanwhile, 25% of pupils sitting independent senior school exams have been awarded academic, music or sports scholarships from 12 schools, including: City of London, Epsom College, Halliford, Hampton, King's College School Wimbledon, Reed's School and St James School.

Nearly half of Year 6 pupils who joined the school at age four have been offered places at highly academically selective schools.

Year 6 pupils received offers from 24 indep

endent senior schools and four state grammar schools. They will take up places at 15 different schools.

Parents have been ecstatic over the results, with one saying: "The teachers helped prepare our son very well for the exams and interview process, and with no additional tutoring, he achieved an academic scholarship at his new senior school."

Another added: "Choosing between the school offers has been a very difficult decision for us as we felt that all the schools that our child got offers from, are excellent.

"We consulted the Headmaster several times and his guidance made it much easier for us to make the final decision."

This guidance starts in Year 4 with an initial meeting with parents and pupils having dedicated verbal and non-verbal reasoning lessons and continues throughout Years 5 and 6 with regular follow-up meetings.

The Mall also endeavours to provide lots of opportunities for interview practice, and in the words of one "extremely proud" parent, "going beyond academics".

Headmaster, David Price, said: "I am extremely proud of Year 6. They have worked extremely hard, supported by their teachers and parents and have been rewarded with an exceptional number of offers and awards from 28 selective schools – the largest number since we moved to the 11+ model in 2019.

"Academic success really is only part of the story behind these results, however, as our pupils will have had to demonstrate to independent senior schools that they are able to contribute to wider school life with passions, interests and skills in pursuits outside of the classroom.

"The broad curriculum we offer at The Mall, with commitment to competitive sports, musical and drama performances for all and exposure to many after school clubs run by professionals in their fields has given Year 6 a rich educational experience and their chosen schools are very lucky to have them joining them in September."

The Mall are still taking admissions enquiries for September 2024 – for girls and boys for entry into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and boys into Years 3, 4 and 5.

Those interested can email [email protected] or visit the school's website here for more information on availability of places.
