Twickenham welcomes new dance class for children with SEND
By Nub News Reporter 11th Sep 2026
A new dance class for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is launching in Twickenham following a successful summer workshop.
Babyballet Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston is opening its new specialist "Shine" dance class at the weekend.
The classes are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where children with SEND can express themselves through dance alongside their parents or carers.
The launch follows a summer workshop held in partnership with Ruils, which organisers said was a "massive success".
Babyballet said it was particularly encouraged by feedback from parents, some of whom said their children had previously been turned away from mainstream dance classes because of their additional needs.
Parents also told organisers they often struggle to find suitable activities for their children during the school holidays.
The organisation said the experience highlighted the importance of making dance more accessible to children with additional needs.
There are currently a few spaces available in the new Shine classes.
Parents and carers interested in joining can find more information and contact the team through the Babyballet website here.
