Jan van Huysum Talk & Garden Tour @ Strawberry Hill House – Sunday, 26 May

Join Strawberry Hill's honorary librarian and tour guide, Carole Tucker, on this unique and fascinating garden tour.

The tour begins with a private view of what Art historian, Andrew Graham-Dixon, referred to as 'the two most brilliant and perfectly preserved paintings' by the celebrated Dutch artist, Jan van Huysum.

Take time to immerse yourself in the crystalline light, colour and detail of van Huysum's paintings before a tour of the gardens. The tour will explore Walpole's suggestion that a landscape garden contained and combined many art forms: architecture, sculpture, poetry and painting.

The talk and tour runs from 10am to 11:15am. Tickets are £22 including a Gift Aid donation, and visitors are welcome to re-enter the house for a self guided visit after the tour.

Jazz musician Laura Chiara Impallomeni brings the trombone to the fore, with an exciting collection of her original contemporary jazz compositions.

These are collaboratively brought to life by some of the UK's most formidable jazz musicians, with today's performance featuring Greg Sinclair on saxophone, Sam Jones on drums, Mei Kirby on keyboards, Ezekiel Ajie on double and electric bass, and Laura herself on trombone.

Her music encapsulates her broad range of influences from hints of hard bop to Ethio jazz, whilst rhythmically exploring odd meters to bass-heavy grooves, with some of her set today being debuted at the London Jazz Festival 2022 in a sold out-performance.

Doors open at 7:15pm with the first set starting at 7:45pm at The Jazz Sanctuary in St Margarets.
