The Moormead Community and Sports Pavilion (MCSP) project will host an event about the pavilion's upcoming rebuild this evening, Wednesday 22 May.

Members of the public are encouraged to come along to learn about the project's latest developments, as well as discuss how to get involved with fundraising efforts in the area.

The charity has been allowed to begin fundraising following an agreement with Richmond Council signed in 2023.

It is hoped the pavilion can be funded via grants and community donations, with the council contributing £150,000 towards the project.

Located in its namesake Moormead Park in St Margarets, the derelict pavilion has been adopted by the MCSP charity who hope to renovate the building into a new facility owned and enjoyed by the local community.

The park and adjoining Bandy Recreation Ground was created from wasteland, now hosts a number of sports and community events which contributes to what MCSP describes as "a pleasant village green atmosphere".

Those interested in helping with the project are encouraged to contact the MCSP team here.

The event is being held at The Turk's Head pub in St Margarets from 7pm to 8pm.
