A new subscription-based veterinary clinic is coming to Twickenham town centre.

Creature Comforts is planning to open a brand new location in Twickenham after hoardings from the brand were seen at the old Burger King site at 30-35 London Road.

The unit at Allied House has remained empty since the fast food restaurant closed in 2022.

With a confirmed opening date of 11 June, Creature Comforts is offering residents the opportunity to become 'Founding Members' to get the first month free every year, a pet accessory, early access to events and a place in its Founding Member community.

After the first month free, the vet practice charges £20 a month for its services.

As a member, customers would get unlimited vet consultations, annual vaccinations, 10% off routine treatments, instant in-app bookings and live chat with its vet team.

Creature Comforts also promises transparent pricing to pet owners.

On its website it said: "If your pet needs any diagnostics or treatment beyond their consultations, we'll discuss any costs with you upfront. No surprise bills - just open conversation about your options, based on you and your pet's needs."

The Twickenham location would become the brand's 12th practice in London.

I’m astonished by anyone would be enthusiastic about such a business model from a consumer perspective. The permanently subscription amounts that are being quoted, or of course for a pet with no existing conditions and not have any great age. Anyone with a pet that is anything less than brand-new will find themselves with a much higher monthly fee. In addition once you’re in this subscription model when you are required to pay extra for a complicated operation you cannot shop around to find a cheaper Vet. You’re already locked in. Finally, remember this is not pet insurance. You will end up paying for that too. It’s basically a 12 or 24 month commitment to hand over your money irrespective of any need (so if you don’t need to vaccinate your pets very regularly …) and not covering any surgery costs.
