A London based fish merchant with over 30 years experience has announced it will takeover the Sandys Fishmongers site.

Moxon's Fishmonger said yesterday (Thursday, 30 April) via Instagram: "We're excited to announce we will be opening Moxon's Fishmongers on the site of Sandy's in Twickenham.

"Refurbishment is underway; updates to follow. We look forward to joining the local community."

Following the announcement of the death of Sandys Fishmongers owner Stuart Sandys on 30 November, the family decided to close the business.

Writing under the post from Moxon's, one user said: "If that site had to go to someone, glad it's another Fishmonger.

"Sandys will always be missed, but glad it's being kept going in spirit if not in name."

Another commented: "Aaaah this is wonderful news! I was keeping everything crossed it would remain a fishmongers! Thank you Moxon's."

A third said: "My wife and I have really missed Sandy's. Will be great having a quality local fishmongers back."
