South Western Railway (SWR) is experiencing "global IT issues" across its network, causing its ticket machines to be shut down.
Despite the ticket vending machines at stations being down, SWR say customers can still buy tickets online, through its app or at ticket offices.
The IT outage has not had an effect on train services which SWR confirm are "running well."
An SWR spokesperson says: "The global IT issues are having an impact on some of our customer facing systems network wide, but our train services are currently running well.
"Ticket vending machines are not operational, but customers can still buy tickets on our website, app and at ticket offices.
"If a customer has already booked tickets to travel and opted to collect the tickets from stations, they can collect these from ticket offices or on board trains.
"We're sorry for the inconvenience and ask customers to continue to check our social media and website for updates as we work to resolve the issues caused by this global outage."
SWR has not given a timeline of when its expects the ticket machines to be fully operational again.
