The Mulberry Centre, based in Isleworth, which supports anyone affected by cancer including patients, their carers, family members and bereaved, has signed up to the Get Lucky Local lottery to help raise much-needed funds.

Located on the grounds of West Middlesex University Hospital on Twickenham Road, The Mulberry Centre is an independent charity, which opened in 2001 and is run by a small number of paid staff but supported by a team of over 150 volunteers with a wide range of skills and experiences.

Fundraising and communications lead Jo Taranowski said: "We are delighted to be part of the growing family of charities signed up to the community lottery Get Lucky Local, which will help us raise vital funds for local people affected by cancer as well as providing local residents an opportunity to win various cash prizes."

The Mulberry Centre is the 56th local good cause to sign up to the lottery which has a weekly Saturday draw. Prizes range from free tickets to cash amounts of £25, £250, £2,000 to a jackpot of £25,000. Fifty pence from every £1 spent on a ticket goes to a cause chosen by the player. If an organisation sells 100 tickets a week that generates £2600 over a year.

The centre's core mission is to improve the lives of anyone affected by cancer, including those with a diagnosis, carers, family members and bereaved relatives, by enhancing emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. The Mulberry Centre is a cancer charity that supports anyone affected by cancer. All the services are offered are free of charge.

One in two people are now expected to develop cancer at some point in their lives. As more people survive the disease, they will need different kinds of information and support to face the future.

Each year sees an increase in people registering to use the Mulberry Centre's service (either as a patient, carer or bereaved). Without support from the local community, the centre would not be able to continue providing information and support to clients. Online services, which have been provided since the first lockdown in March 2020, have been a lifeline for many of clients. It costs £50 a month to offer services to each clients.

Under the current Covid-19 rules The Mulberry Centre is offering remote services but plans to open its doors gradually for face-to-face appointments in June.

In last Saturday's Draw 19 there were 25 winners of three free tickets including four players who support Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club – one of whom won a £25 cash prize. To sign up as a good cause or to play Get Lucky Local go to www.getluckylocal.co.uk
