Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday and may cause some flooding and travel disruption, according to the Met Office.
The organisation has issued a Yellow Alert for much of England, including Greater London, Wales and the south coast.
A Yellow Alert means there is a risk of some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
It said: "There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.
"Delays to train services are possible. Some short-term loss of power and other services is likely."
In the past, these alerts have led to some local parks, including the Royal Parks covering Richmond and Bushy, to enforce partial closures.
