A transport-obsessed eight-year-old from Twickenham is among the winners of Transport for London's (TfL) 'Superfans' competition, launched to celebrate the organisation's 25th anniversary.

Scott Tomlinson, from Twickenham, has already visited all 272 London Underground stations and now has his sights set on completing the DLR, Elizabeth line and London Overground networks too.

His passion for the Tube began at just five years old after a visit to the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden with his grandmother.

Tomlinson was one of more than 300 young Londoners aged 5–16 who entered the TfL Superfans competition earlier this year.

Entrants were asked to write 100 words about their favourite mode of transport and what it meant to them.

The competition attracted poems, creative descriptions, and heartfelt stories from children across the capital, many of whom spoke about how public transport helps them explore London and visit friends and family.

Passengers across 50 Tube and rail stations will hear the young winners' messages every hour from 6am to 8pm, wishing TfL a happy birthday and reminding commuters to 'mind the gap'.

Tomlinson's favourite line is the Waterloo & City and he particularly loves the 1972 stock trains on the Bakerloo line.

In recognition of his winning entry, TfL has invited him to ride in the cab of a 1972 Bakerloo line train from Waterloo on Saturday 12 July, where he' will also make an on-board announcement.

Speaking about the entries, London's Transport Commissioner Andy Lord said: "We were completely bowled over by the response to our Superfans competition and would like to thank each and every child for their inspiring entries.

"Staff were moved by the enthusiasm and effort in each entry, whether a poem, a handwritten note or a personal story, and had a very difficult time choosing just 25 winners!"

Each of the Superfans will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of a TfL station or depot of their choice, receive a TfL goodie bag, and feature on a special TfL poster campaign.

Deputy Mayor for Transport, Seb Dance, said: "I've been absolutely delighted by the outstanding entries submitted by young Londoners who have all shown such passion and enthusiasm for TfL and our transport network.

"TfL's Superfans competition is a really fitting way to mark TfL's 25th anniversary."

TfL's anniversary celebrations have included live performances at Liverpool Street, the introduction of a silver 'TfL25' roundel, and posters highlighting achievements such as the launch of Oyster cards and the Night Tube.
