Congratulations to all at Twickenham Cricket Club who managed to raise a much-needed £1,200 to support its activities with a quiz night, barbecue and raffle.

The organisers said the amount raised is 'massive' in terms of its fund-raising activities.

The club, which has teams through all age groups who can be seen practising regularly on Twickenham Green, has close ties to businesses in the area who supported the event.

While very much a community club, it hit the headlines this year after recruiting former England star, Monty Panesar, after discovering he was studying at St Mary's University. Monty now makes regular contributions as a columnist to Nub News.

The club thanked Darren Bartlett, of Bartlett and Partners, who donated a £50 voucher for breakfast at Avocado & Lemon; Teddington Sports, who donated a £50 voucher; Arthur's Pizza, who donated a £30 voucher; Strawberry Hill Golf club donated a voucher for a midweek 4 ball; Eel Pie Records donated a £25 voucher; Twickenham Chiropractic, donated a half price consultation.

Two bottles of wine were donated by Majestic Wines; while Jo Heath, who donated a voucher for a 30 minute head and back massage; and Moores Cycles donated a £20 voucher.
