A Richmond man has been jailed for three and a half years after being found guilty of domestic violence including assault and threats to kill.

Christopher Malone, aged 44, was found guilty at Kingston Crown for threats to kill and actual bodily harm against his then partner.

The trial followed an arrest in May last year when police were called to reports of screaming and banging at an address in the borough.

It was disclosed that Malone had pointed two kitchen knives at a woman, pulled her by her hair and strangled her.

The officer in the case, DC Charlie Jones, said: "This was an excellent result, and I hope it can reassure the public that we will tenaciously investigate violence against women and girls at the hands of dangerous and predatory offenders."

Details of the prosecution and trial were released on social media by the police.

Richmond Borough Council is signed up to White Ribbon, which is a global campaign that encourages people, and especially men and boys, to act and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence against women and girls.

The police said: "If you've been affected by domestic violence know that help is available.

"If you aren't ready to talk to police there are agencies who can support you or talk to you. Richmond council has a list of local support on their website"
