Twickenham MP Munira Wilson appointed Parliamentary Vice-President for London Councils

Twickenham MP Munira Wilson has been appointed one of three new Parliamentary Vice-Presidents for London Councils.
The announcement was made during London Councils' annual general meeting, where Wilson was joined by fellow MPs Rachel Blake (Labour, Cities of London and Westminster) and David Simmonds (Conservative, Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner) in the new vice-presidential roles.
The Parliamentary Vice-President position has been created to build stronger connections between London boroughs and Parliament, helping to promote the interests of local government across the capital.
Reacting to the appointment, Ms Wilson told Twickenham Nub News: "Local government plays such a vital role in everyone's day-to-day lives.
"I'm honoured to have been selected as a Parliamentary Vice-President, alongside two of my Parliamentary colleagues, to help strengthen links between local councils and Westminster."
London Councils represents all 32 boroughs and the City of London, working to shape legislation, influence the national agenda, and push for greater devolution of powers to London's local authorities.
Current key priorities include securing sustainable funding for town halls and advocating for local leadership on major issues such as housing, infrastructure, and social care.
Cllr Claire Holland, Chair of London Councils, welcomed the appointments: "We're excited to confirm our three Parliamentary Vice-Presidents.
"They are each dedicated champions for London local government and we're grateful for their support.
"Decisions made in Westminster are fundamentally important to boroughs' ability to play our vital role in driving growth and delivering on behalf of our residents.
"Through working closely with MPs we will seek more opportunities to contribute to parliamentary debate and national policymaking for the benefit of the Londoners we all serve."
