Twickenham planning roundup: 'death trap' junction, chapel repairs and Sainsbury's
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
'Death Trap'
Residents have thrown their support behind a mum's campaign to improve the safety of a 'death trap' junction in south west London after she and her children came close to being killed.
Laura Kerry, 48, is calling on Transport for London (TfL) to make safety changes at St Margarets Roundabout on the A316, in Twickenham, as she fears it is only a matter of time before someone is killed.
However TfL says it's not currently a priority.
Sainsbury's Pod
An application has been submitted to Richmond Council from Sainsbury's to bring a new retail pod to its branch in Lower Richmond Road.
The pod will be for the use of We Buy Any Car (WBAC) and will be constructed as a modular structure that will be built off-site and then placed inside Sainsbury's car park.
WBAC is a UK-based car-buying service that sell used vehicles.
'Urgent' Chapel Work
An 18th century chapel in Twickenham is in need of "urgent" attention, according to a planning application submitted to Richmond Council.
St Mary's University has applied for listed building consent for a range of restoration works at The Chapel in the Wood, after a survey in September 2023 revealed a series of issues.
"At the moment the building fabric is putting the interior at risk and it needs to be urgently fixed in order to preserve the heritage asset," the application explained.
