Twickenham Primary Academy celebrated World Book Day with local author

In celebration of World Book Day (6 March 2025), Twickenham-based children's author Zoe Verner teamed up with community-focused property developer London Square to inspire a love of reading with local children.
Verner read her book The Adventures of Izzy and Columbus – Nakamomo Island, to classes at Twickenham Primary Academy (located close to the new homes at Twickenham Green and Twickenham Square) on World Book Day.
The author presented each child with a signed copy of the book, and donated a copy to the school library.
The Adventures of Izzy and Columbus – Nakamomo Island is the first in a series of four adventure stories.
It tells the tale of an inseparable duo – Izzy and her dog Columbus – as they set out to solve the mysterious disappearance of Izzy's best friend Max.
Their journey takes them to the magical Nakamomo Island, where they adventure through the rainforest, escaping pursuit while meeting loveable creatures along the way.
To mark World Book Day, students at Twickenham Primary Academy dressed up as their favourite book characters.
The event is a highlight of the school calendar, aimed at promoting a love of reading and literacy.
Verner shared her creative writing process with the children through an interactive session, giving them the opportunity to ask questions and learn how to craft engaging characters and storylines.
Erin Moscardini, Principal at Twickenham Primary Academy, commented: "World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to engage children in reading in a fun and interactive way.
"We were thrilled to welcome Zoe Verner, a talented local author, to share her exciting story of Izzy and Columbus with our Year 4 pupils.
"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to London Square for making this event possible and for generously donating books to our school community."
Jo McDonagh, Managing Director at London Square, said: "All our homes are designed to be family-friendly places where futures can flourish.
"We create homes with a focus on generations to come, which impacts everything from the net zero design of our properties to the ways in which we engage with the local community.
"Working in partnership with Zoe and Twickenham Primary Academy epitomises this approach, laying the foundations for strong community connections as Twickenham Square comes to life."
London Square is the developer behind the new homes at Twickenham Green and Twickenham Square.
Twickenham Green, just a three minute walk from Twickenham Primary Academy, is a collection of apartments and three and four-bedroom houses on the bank of the River Crane.
Priced from £475,000, the homes provide private gardens in a riverfront setting, while offering connectivity to central London.
