Twickenham residents are being encouraged to get active for a good cause this September, as Momentum Children's Charity launches its first ever 'Move for Momentum' fundraising challenge to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The charity, which supports families across London, Surrey and Sussex with children undergoing cancer treatment, is asking people of all ages to take on a movement-based challenge to help raise vital funds and awareness..

Momentum say participants can choose how they move and how to measure it.

Suggested challenges include walking to school each day, bouncing on a trampoline, swimming one to ten miles during the month, or even inventing a completely unique activity.

Fundraising can take be completed individually, as part of a family, a school or as a group.

A free downloadable fundraising pack is available to help participants get started, offering challenge ideas, a guide to setting up a fundraising page, and tips on how to rally support from friends, family and the local community.

CEO at Momentum Children's Charity, Sarah Woods, said: "Move for Momentum is a fun way to move your body and do something great during a very important month.

"Every year, more than 1,900 families receive the devastating news that their child has cancer — and that number is sadly increasing.

"We want to make sure that we can be there every step of the way to offer the right support, but we need to raise vital funds to do so. Please join me this September by taking on a Move for Momentum challenge — together we can make a real difference."

Momentum Children's Charity works closely with families through hospital partnerships, offering emotional and practical help including counselling, therapy, respite breaks and support workers to help them navigate an incredibly difficult time.
