Twickenham Riverside parking spaces to be removed ahead of works

Richmond Council has confirmed that a number of parking spaces around the Twickenham Riverside Regeneration site will be permanently removed, as major construction works are set to begin next month.
From Sunday, 9 June 2025, residents who usually park on The Embankment, Water Lane or Wharf Lane will need to find alternative spaces, with all three roads closing temporarily from Monday, 10 June as work on the regeneration scheme begins.
Following the project's completion, parking spaces on these roads will be permanently removed.
The Council has also announced further changes to road layouts in the area. One-way systems on Water Lane and Wharf Lane will be removed, and road widening will take place at their junctions with King Street to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access.
Additionally, a section of The Embankment will be permanently closed to motor vehicles, except between 7am and 10am daily to allow for the servicing of properties along the south side of King Street.
As part of the wider regeneration project, the Council will be making alterations to the Central Twickenham Controlled Parking Zone (Zone D), including:
- The creation of new parking spaces within the zone
- The re-designation of some bays to allow more flexible use by permit holders
- Installation of double yellow lines at key locations to improve visibility and access
These changes are being introduced under Experimental Traffic Orders, which means residents have the opportunity to provide feedback during a trial period.
Residents wishing to comment on the changes must do so by Friday, 30 January 2026. Feedback can be submitted via email to [email protected], or in writing to:
