After an extremely challenging couple of years pupils at one Twickenham school were jumping for joy upon opening their results this morning.

Year 11 students at Orleans Park School have been praised by their teachers, with sixteen students scoring top grades 9 and 8 across the board and one, Madeline, achieving 9s in every single subject!

30% of all grades awarded at the school were the top GCSE levels 9 to 8, and 50% of grades were levels 9 to 7, with English and Maths results the best the school has ever seen.

Students arrived in small groups to collect their results in order to stagger numbers throughout the morning, and many also enrolled at the Sixth Form after having seen their grades.

Headteacher Ms Ball said: "This impressive set of results, despite the obvious challenge posed by COVID-19, has once again confirmed the school's high standards and expectations for all students, to enable them to 'be the best they can be'.

"We are so glad to have been able to provide an outstanding education for all of our students during the past 12 months and are incredibly proud of all their achievements."

Deputy Headteacher Mr Cahill said: "It was great to see so many of them collecting the results and staying on for their A Levels here too.

"Another set of great results and we're absolutely delighted for all of them!"

Under the levels system the Government say that grade 4 is a 'standard pass'. Grade 5 is a 'strong pass' and equivalent to a high C and low B on the old grading system.

Overall the school's EBacc subjects results were over twice the national average.

89% of students achieved a pass in Modern Foreign Languages, and almost 98% of all students achieved a strong pass in Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

An impressive 78% of all students also achieved grades 7 and above across the sciences.

Teachers at the school expressed how proud they are of the progress made by many students despite the pandemic, with over twenty achieving an average of two grades higher than target grades for each subject.

Many of them had regularly attended a Progress Club throughout the Academic Year to help them improve.

Mr Dodge, Assistant Headteacher of Key Stage 4, said: "These results go to show that through hard work and dedication, our students have been able to achieve the grades they want."

Head of Year 11, Louisa Hassall, also celebrated their success this morning.

She said: "We are so proud of every student and what they have achieved this year.

"Their ability to overcome adversity and achieve such excellent results has made me incredibly proud as Head of Year.

"We wish all of our students success and happiness in their future."
