The Three Kings Pub, situated on Heath Road in Twickenham, has been listed as an Asset of Community Value following a successful application from the Copthall Gardens Residents' Association.

There were fears that the Three Kings would close and so local residents decided to apply.

However, it has recently reopened with a new landlord.

Local groups can apply for property to be listed as assets of community value where their primary use furthers the social well-being or social interests of the community

Having this status means that if the owner decides to put the asset up for sale, there is a six month moratorium where the "community right to bid" applies, enabling the community group itself to put together a bid before a private buyer can be considered.

Cllr James Chard, for Twickenham Riverside said: "This is great news for the community. The Three Kings is a small, traditional, community-focussed pub which is much-loved by Twickenham residents. Many such establishments have sadly been lost both locally and nationally over the years. This designation gives it an extra level of protection."
