Photos have been released showing the aftermath from last week's car crash in Belmont Road, Twickenham.

The flat has been boarded up and cordoned off with hazard tape.

A low brick wall has also been destroyed in the incident.

The images were captured today 3 April, a week after a car drove into an elderly woman's ground floor flat on the west London cul-de-sac.

Neighbours have revealed the woman had been home at the time of the incident, but was thankfully in another room.

Neither she nor the driver, also understood to be elderly, were injured in the dramatic crash, but the car and property were damaged.

The residents believe the driver had been trying to park her car, and may have accidentally pressed the accelerator.

One man, who did not want to be named, explained: "I heard she was trying to park.

"But she's elderly, so maybe she pressed the wrong button by mistake.

"Thankfully no one was hurt."

Others described the 'chaos' as police cars, ambulances, and fire engineers all arrived on scene.

"I just suddenly heard sirens and saw all these flashing lights," one woman, who also wished to remain anonymous, said.

"I went outside and it was unbelievable. The car had gone right through into the house.

"It's a miracle everyone was okay."

It has been speculated that the driver of the car lost control while trying to park (Photo: SWNS)

Emergency services were called at 5pm last Wednesday, 27 March.

The car, a silver 2011 Honda hatchback, remained stuck in the woman's bedroom window until the following day (Thursday 28 March) before it was removed and the flat cordoned off and boarded up.

Government records show the vehicle had an up-to-date MOT and tax status.

Specifics of the accident are still unknown at this time.
