UPDATE: person fatally struck by train between Teddington and Kingston

British Transport Police have confirmed the person struck by a train this morning, 24 April, was pronounced dead on the scene.

A spokesperson said: "British Transport Police received a report shortly after 5am today, 24 April, to a casualty on the tracks near Teddington station.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Emergency services have since dealt with the incident and "all lines have now reopened" according to Network Rail.

Disruption continued until 10am with services now back to normal.

However South Western Railway is encouraging passengers to check their journey on their website to minimise any delays.
