A Richmond shoe shop owner is inviting people to join him on a charity walking challenge to raise £10,000 for the Vineyard Community & Richmond Foodbank.

On Thursday, September 28th from 4pm-6pm Foot Solutions owner, Gabriel Irwin will be launching the Million Step Challenge in aid of Vineyard Community and Richmond Foodbank.

Foot Solutions is looking for volunteers to walk 10,000 steps on a scenic stroll around Richmond and help raise sponsorship for the charity.

Gabriel said: "I wanted to do something to support the vital work the Vineyard Community and Richmond Foodbank do in our local community helping people in crisis,"

"The Million Step Challenge is a great way to enjoy a relaxing walk around the town, get your daily step count in, and raise money for an incredibly worthy local cause.

"We want to get the challenge off to the best possible start and are looking for volunteers to join us on the 28th walking 10,000 steps around Richmond's stunning sights.

"If everyone walking raises £100 in sponsorship, we'll be well on our way to achieving the £10,000 overall target.

He added: "If you can't make it on the day, it's not a problem. Do your 10,000 steps at a convenient time for you and get your sponsors to donate via the event's JustGiving page."

Vineyard Community & Richmond Foodbank provide help for 7,000 local people per year.

In the last year they have provided emergency food for 6,031 people, helped 66 homeless people access accommodation, supported 357 people struggling with the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis, provided 7,727 hot meals, and supported 1,022 refugees mainly from Ukraine.
