Waldegrave School shares the best dressed Year 11 leavers on their customary 'Dress Up Day'.

It has become somewhat of a tradition for more than 20 years at Waldegrave School that the outgoing Year 11s have a fun-filled 'Dress Up Day'.

This has become one of the school's favourite traditions and over the years there have been some of the wackiest, creative and hilarious costumes on show.

Each year, Year 11 sets the bar high for the next with innovative outfits (many of which are hand constructed and decorated) and this year they did not disappoint.

This week the corridors were crowded with several bands of Smurfs, Ninja Turtles, stuffed olives, sumo ballerinas, and The Spice Girls, to mention a few.

Likewise, the staff all dressed up in 'Waldegrave School uniform' in the spirit of the day.

The celebrations culminated with an entertaining game of benchball against their teachers, with the teachers winning 2-1 much to the dismay of the students before finishing in style with a costume parade.

The students were all competing for the coveted title of either individual or group winner for the 'Best Dressed' as judged by some of the senior leadership team and the winners from the previous year.

It was a closely fought contest but Cat Woman (Nyasha S) won the individual category, with Shrek (Eliza T) as the runner-up.

Competition was fierce in the group category, with 'Grand Prix' as the runners-up (Mia B D, Aleena C, Amy H-J, Madiha M, Lucy R, Masooma K, and Tilly L) and 'Ant & Seb' from The X Factor fame as the winners (Isabel J and Islay D).

Ms Tongue, Headteacher at Waldegrave School said: "It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our Year 11s this week. As they start their exams it is so important that our students know that everyone at home and school are working together to support them."

Waldegrave School also marked the Year 11s leaving with a formal Celebratory Assembly, which this year included guest speaker Amelia Radford, who was Head Girl at Waldegrave in 2015.

Waldegrave School would like to wish all their Year 11s the best of luck with their exams.
