It's beginning to look a lot like Twickmas!
A series of events celebrate the arrival of the festive season across Twickenham this weekend.
A grotto, featuring Father Christmas and some of his helpers, is currently open on Twickenham Green from 3pm to 6pm through until Friday evening.
On Sunday, the Church Street Association, led by Shona Lyons, has organised a Christmas Craft Fair, which runs from noon through into the early evening.
The event will play host to craft stalls, carol singing, street food, festive drinks as well as entertainment for children, including Punch & Judy shows.
The mayor, Cllr Geoff Acton, is due for the great lights switch-on at around 4.30pm, which will take place at the corner of Church Street and York Street. The lights are supported by Twickenham's businesses through the Discover Twickenham – Business Improvement District - organisation.
The Exchange – Bawdy Shakespeare - Friday, November 19 - 7:30 pm
The comedy fringe phenomenon – Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare - introduces a new generation to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre.
The troupe promise a very modern twist to Romeo and Juliet, which is part drinking game and part performance.
The show's premise is that one cast member selected at random is given four hours to drink before taking to the stage and then must navigate the classic play with continuing to binge.
Errol Linton – CTZNbrewhouse - Sunday, November 21 -3:30pm
The best blues harmonica player in the UK, Errol Linton, brings his blues/reggae groove to Twickenham in association with Eel Pie Records.
He will be joined by Lance Rose on bass and Petar Zivkovic on keys in a free entry show which could become a regular event on the third Sunday of each month at CTZNbrew.
EFG London Jazz Festival2021 - Jack Yardley's Ken Hoon & Layla Ley
The Jazz Sanctuary is one of the venue partners of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2021 and will be hosting Jack Yardley's Ken Hoon at Winchester Hall this Sunday.
The Jazz Festival is in its 29th year and promises another momentous 10-day run of forward-looking programme featuring world-class artists and emerging stars of the jazz scene.
ack Yardley's Ken Hoon is a compelling quintet in the UK Jazz scene. Led by award winning drummer and composer, Jack Yardley.
Their debut release "Dreamland" ebbs and flows from ambient soundscapes to heavy rhythmical interplay, reflecting Jack's own musical influences through the years, from Coltrane to Mark Guiliana.
The event will also follow Layla Ley who is an innovative singer/songwriter and harpist from London. An alumnus of The Brit School and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, she combines her powerful jazz vocals with the harp to create beautifully enchanting and entrancing songs and music that completely draws you into her world.
Tickets are £15 in advance and £18 on the door, doors and bar open at 15:15 with the first Set starting at 16:00. Food and drinks are available throughout the evening.
The event is 12+ and will be held at Winchester Hall on the 21st November.
