Twickenham Cricket Club's women's team is on the hunt for new players to join the team on Twickenham Green.
The team meets most Wednesdays at 6.30pm on the green and practise 'until the light fades'.
All abilities are welcome – though a little experience is a bonus!
Twickenham CC player Claire Downey said: "Sadly some of our more experienced players chose to retire this year so we are looking for new players.
"We are particularly in need of batters - you don't need to be a great cricketer to join us but some experience would be amazing.
"We are a very friendly club and we welcome all ages from the age of 15.
"We organise monthly socials and make a big thing of getting together for a drink after matches too!
"Training is free, match subs are £10 a match and the annual membership is just £40.
"No payment is necessary straight away - come and try it out first!"
The team plays in the Surrey Slam which is aimed at more novice players (16 overs).
It is also in Division 1 of the Surrey Women's Cricket League (35 overs) which is aimed at slightly more experienced players, and the Surrey Women's Elite T20.
Most matches are played on Sunday afternoons, with the occasional one on a Wednesday evening.
Twickenham CC played its first competitive game against Thames Ditton way back in 1833!
The club has a long history of attracting elite cricketers – from WG Grace to Monty Panesar – but it is just as welcoming to beginners as it is the pros.
As well as the women's side the club runs six senior men's sides (five playing in the Middlesex County Cricket League, MCCL, the other playing friendly cricket) and multiple junior sides for both boys and girls.
For more information contact Claire [email protected]. Training is free. Match subs are £10 / match and annual membership is £40.
