Come and join us for a fun afternoon of creativity and learn how to make Dorset buttons!
This heritage craft, originating in the seventeenth century in Dorset, is enjoying a wonderful revival these days in the crafting community.
These handmade buttons are made by wrapping thread around a small metal ring to create a range of interesting designs. During the class you should have time to finish one or even two buttons and you'll also go home with all the know-how to make more.
Whether you're an absolute beginner or have done some crafting before, we'll guide you through the various steps to making these beautiful buttons. Either use them as attractive and original buttons on garments, or they make lovely decorations and even statement jewellery pieces!
All materials and tools are included, together with hot drinks and homemade cake.
The workshop will be taught by Ann and Catherine from Handmade Workshops.
