A police cordon will remain in place into the evening after a gas leak on Monday morning in Fulwell.

All emergency services - ambulance, fire and police - have been called.

A resident said: "We have been told by the police to stay indoors and keep our windows closed."

Another said: "There's a gas leak near Fulwell golf course. It must surely be very big because you can smell the gas from where I live."

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called to Burtons Road, at 9.41am today to reports of a gas leak.

"Officers attended with colleagues from London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

"A cordon remains in place. Emergency services remain on scene. There are no reports of injuries."
