Plans to turn 12 car parking spaces at Hanworth's Homebase into a hand car wash have been put forward to Richmond Council.

If approved, the scheme would allow Waves to install a new concrete wash pad, canopy and a cabin as an office.

The application says the Twickenham Road business would be capable of washing up to six cars at any given time.

"The proposal is functional in its design, and we do not believe it will be visually obtrusive due to its very limited size and height," the application explained.

It added: "The introduction of the car wash will create new and sustainable economic growth in the area; it will have a positive impact on local employment creating an estimated four full-time and four part-time jobs.

"The car wash will also provide increased consumer choice with the addition of the service."

The car park is already home to Autoglass and Care Store Direct units.
