A Harbour Porpoise has been spotted in the River Thames near Twickenham today (29 February).

The Harbour Porpoise is a small type of dolphin which often stays close to coastal areas or river estuaries.

The Porpoise was spotted by X user (formerly Twitter) @KaptainKwack near to Eel Pie Island, heading upstream.

He said: "This was my first sighting ever of these marine mammals in the Thames!

"It had dozens of gulls circling above, which allerted me."

This follows a number of recent sightings of Grey Seal in the same area.
