A desperate family have issued a plea for help after Betty, their Jack Russell, disappeared from the front garden.

Betty, who is seven, went missing at some time between 10am and noon on Thursday, from Links View Road, Hampton Hill.

The community has rallied around to help and posters are being put up across the area in the search to find Betty, who has an identifying microchip.

Owner, Virginia Lewis, told Nub News, that she fears Betty has been taken.

Betty, who is seven, went missing at some time between 10am and noon on Thursday, from Links View Road, Hampton Hill.

Virginia said: "Everyone loves Betty. She is the cutest dog ever. She loves children and is very obedient for a Jack Russell. We think she may have been nabbed.

'She never goes wandering ever. The strange thing is that no-one has reported seeing her, there has been no report to the police and, it seems, no-one has taken her to a local vet or Battersea.

'This is devastating. Betty is very much part of the family. Everyone has been so kind and helpful, but we just need to find her.'
