A golf club welcomed two new members of staff today under the Government's Kickstart Scheme.

Fulwell Golf Club has received funding to take on five new staff members in total: two in the greenkeeping department, two on front of house, and one in the kitchen.

Each will work at the club for six months, and receive training and development alongside guidance with their CVs to help them with future employment.

The two new members today join Jeremy who is working in the club's front of house team.

Fulwell Golf Club Secretary Murray Cook said: "We have committed to take five people in the scheme across the company.

"Part of that commitment is to help them with their development and give them an opportunity in the world.

"It's a really good scheme.

"It's something that we really wanted to do to help people in local community, we feel that we had the opportunity to help them.

"It's been really positive, the members have appreciated it as well.

"Hopefully other businesses see this initiative and get involved too."

The Kickstart Scheme is a government initiative that aims to give opportunities to 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit by providing funding to employers to create job placements. Read more here.
