A man is in hospital after being rescued from the Thames yesterday evening.

Emergency services including the London Ambulance Service, Richmond Police, the London Fire Brigade and the RNLI were called to Cross Deep at around 7pm.

The man is thought to be in his forties.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 7.18pm yesterday (31 May) to reports of a person in the River Thames near Cross Deep, Twickenham.

"We sent an ambulance crew, two medics in cars, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic and our hazardous area response teams.

"A man was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital as a priority."

One Twitter user reported: "Police ran into Radnor Gardens first then smashed in the front door of the big white building, then gowned up ambulance staff seen leaving the building later."
