New flats could be created above a former Twickenham bank, if plans are signed off by Richmond Council.

An application to create the new homes above the former HSBC on London Road was put forward earlier this August.

If approved, the scheme would leave the ground floor available as a retail unit, meanwhile the three floors above would be repurposed to create five, one-bedroom flats and a single two-bedroom apartment.

The application says: "The mixed use of the proposal would be beneficial to create a more cohesive street scene, repurpose a currently vacant property and provide much needed residential units in a highly desirable and highly populated area."

As well as internal alterations, the scheme would require two windows to be removed and new ones put in.

HSBC has been closed since June 2023, with the unit yet to be taken over.
