New solar panel deal promises £600 discounts for Twickenham residents
By Nub News Reporter 14th Jul 2026
Richmond residents can now save £600 on the cost of installing solar panels and battery storage thanks to an enhanced partnership between Richmond Council and renewable energy specialists MakeMyHouseGreen.
The Council has increased the available discount from £500 to £600 per installation as it continues to encourage more households to make the switch to renewable energy.
At a time of rising household energy costs, the Council says homeowners with solar panels and battery storage could save around £1,000 a year on their energy bills.
To help residents find out whether solar panels are suitable for their property, Richmond Council is hosting a free online webinar tomorrow (Wednesday, 15 July).
The session will feature experts from MakeMyHouseGreen alongside retrofit planning specialists Ecofurb, who will answer questions on solar panels, battery storage and wider home energy improvements.
Residents can also use MakeMyHouseGreen's free online calculator to check whether their home is suitable for solar panels and receive an estimate of installation costs and potential savings.
The initiative forms part of the Council's wider efforts to help residents reduce energy bills while cutting carbon emissions across the borough.
Further advice on improving home energy efficiency is available through Richmond Council's Smarter Homes Hub, which includes practical guidance, case studies and a series of questions and answers with MakeMyHouseGreen experts.
