Plans approved for new cake shop in Twickenham
By Cesar Medina 13th Jul 2026
A cake company's planning application to bring a shop to Twickenham has been green lit by Richmond Council.
Cake Co, a bakery franchise, submitted proposals for a new shopfront at 44 King Street.
The site formerly housed kitchen showroom brand Wood Stone, but is now set become the 16th Cake Co location as plans are approved.
On behalf of the bakery, Jainti Architects said: "The application proposes the removal of the existing, outdated shopfront and the installation of a high-quality, contemporary minimalist storefront."
New features include a high-specification frameless glass shopfront and a central frameless glass double door.
As part of the approval, planning officers said Cake Co can proceed with its proposals if the development begins within the next three years and if no new external finishes are carried out.
First opened as Paul's Bakery in 1994, Cake Co is a family run business who believe "cakes should taste as good as they look".
