Sandys Fishmongers will not reopen following the death of owner Stuart William Sandys, whose passing was announced on 30 November.

The news was confirmed in a post on social media today (January 8).

Details of a memorial service have also been shared.

"This is a very difficult post to write as we know that everyone has been coming to terms with the sudden loss of Stuart, Jill's son and Helen's brother," it said.

"Over the last weeks we have been working on finding solutions to save the company.

"Unfortunately, we have reached the inevitable conclusion that, without Stuart, the business cannot and should not continue.

"It is with heavy hearts that we have reached this outcome and are announcing that Sandys will not be reopening.

"We would like to thank you all for your support and messages of kindness over the last month. They have brought so much comfort to the family. Thank you also for your continued loyal custom over the years.

"There will be a memorial service to celebrate Stuart's life at St Mary's Church on Monday 26 January at midday and afterwards at the Stoop. Everyone is welcome to join us.

"With many thanks again, Jill Sandys & Helen Kennedy."
