Orange Tree Theatre has revealed the full cast for its upcoming production of In Praise of Love by celebrated British playwright Terence Rattigan.

The production, directed by Amelia Sears, opens on 3 June with previews from 24 May, and will run until 5, July 2025.

The play stars Daniel Abelson, Joe Edgar, Claire Price and Dominic Rowan in a powerful revival of one of Rattigan's final works.

Set in 1970s England, In Praise of Love explores the complex relationship between Estonian refugee Lydia and her husband Sebastian, a Marxist literary critic.

Both former wartime intelligence officers, the pair are well-versed in the art of secrecy — even with each other.

When an old admirer arrives on the scene, a web of deception begins to unravel, exposing hidden truths and emotional fault lines within the family.

Loosely inspired by the relationship between actor Rex Harrison and his wife Kay Kendall, the drama is both tender and sharp, offering a poignant meditation on love, honesty, and resilience.

Returning to the Orange Tree are Daniel Abelson (Amsterdam) as Mark Walters, Claire Price (Poison) as Lydia Cruttwell, and Dominic Rowan (Winter Solstice) as Sebastian Cruttwell. Joe Edgar joins the cast as Joey Cruttwell.

Director Amelia Sears brings a wealth of experience to the production, with credits across stage and screen including Years of Sunlight at Theatre503 and acclaimed short films THREE and Ceres.

Audiences at the Orange Tree have previously enjoyed Rattigan favourites such as French Without Tears and While the Sun Shines, making this a much-anticipated return for one of the 20th century's most beloved dramatists.
