Twickenham: Emergency gas works on Hospital Bridge Road now complete

Emergency roadworks on Hospital Bridge Road in Twickenham have officially come to an end after engineers successfully repaired a gas leak beneath the busy route.
The works, which began last week, were carried out by Cadent Gas after a leak was detected on a major gas main near the railway bridge.
A spokesperson for Cadent confirmed: "Our gas emergency team were called a week ago to a report of a smell of gas near to the railway bridge on Hospital Bridge Road, Twickenham.
"We discovered a gas escape on the large 24-inch pipe. The road needed to be closed to ensure the safety of road users and our engineers, as the pipe is in the middle of the road.
"Traffic diversions were in place throughout the work."

The repair was completed without disruption to gas supplies in the area, and the road fully reopened on yesterday (7 April).
Hospital Bridge Road is a key route for drivers travelling between Twickenham and Whitton, and its closure caused some delays while diversions were in place.
Cadent engineers have now confirmed that the ageing gas main has been made safe and is back in full working order.
