The Twickenham Repair Café is back

By Rory Poulter 14th Jul 2022

Doors are set to open for the next Twickenham Repair Café gathering of experts who can bring old and broken household items back to life.

The team will be offering repairs and advice from 10.30am through to 1pm on Saturday – July 16.

The initiative has proved to be an enormous success with visits from many satisfied residents and the Twickenham MP, Munira Wilson.

One of the founders, Colin Messenger, said: "Vast amounts of stuff gets thrown away and many people have forgotten that they can repair things themselves.

"Changing mindsets can kindle people's enthusiasm for a more sustainable society and show people how much fun repairing can be.

"The way the Cafe works is that people will bring along their broken items from home and a volunteer will, not only repair the item (hopefully), but, share their skills to give people the confidence to do their own repairs in the future."

The growing team of over 20 repairers have the skills to fix clothes and textiles; household and garden electrical products; bikes; ceramics; computers; games consoles; furniture; woodwork; tools and knives.

The event takes place at St Margarets Church Hall, East Twickenham - https://www.twickenhamrepaircafe.org/
