The Be At One cocktail bar chain on York Road has closed and is now going to become Bear Tavern, a craft union free house, which is, Like Be At One, part of the Stonegate Group.

The site on York Road was previously a Bear Tavern before it reopened as a Be At One in July 2019.

Bear Tavern is "A contemporary bar, eatery and event" which serves "traditional pub grub alongside a range of craft ales, lagers, ciders and cocktails, and with weekend DJs creating a lively atmosphere over the weekend".

While an official opening of Bear Tavern has not yet been announced, the website says that it is "opening soon".

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), many local residents have expressed their excitement over the return of Bear Tavern, with one saying: "I remember when it was Bear back in 2017!

"Did a good nut roast! I went when it was "Be At One" last month and it was dead."

Another said: "This is great news! Hopefully they bring back the big screen."
