Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Derelict Garages

A row of 20 "derelict" garages could be demolished in Twickenham to make way for a series of new homes.

Davies Murch has submitted yet another application to redevelop the plot on Sion Road, saying the works will make way for a one-bed flat, two one-bed houses and three, two-bed houses.

The site - which is to the rear of Sion Court - would also make way for 28 bicycle parking spaces and 527 sqm of "landscaped communal amenity space".

Every Little Helps

An extra flat could soon be created above a Twickenham Tesco, if plans are signed off by Richmond Council.

A planning application has been submitted to reconfigure two currently unsold flats to create three smaller ones.

The application says there have been no takers for the larger units at Powder Mill Lane since marketing began in July 2022.

The flats make up part of the redeveloped former Duke of York pub site which was flattened and turned into a shop, community centre and 15 apartments in 2022.

Primary Entrance

A Twickenham primary school has submitted plans to change its entrances to "improve safeguarding" on site.

If approved, the scheme will see Nelson Primary School have a new gate built onto Nelson Road.

Meanwhile St Vincent Road will be designated a 'school street' and the existing gates towards the north end of the road would be used as the main pupil and pedestrian entrance.
