Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

The Black Dog?

Roxie Steak & Tap in Twickenham is set to be renamed the Black Dog as part of a major investment in pubs across the country by Heineken.

The brewery announced earlier this year it would be injecting £39 million into more than 600 pubs across the UK, with 62 closed inns to be brought back to life.

Star Pubs - the Dutch brewery's hospitality arm - said the refurbishments will focus on "transforming tired pubs in suburban areas into premium locals".

Offices' New Life

Council planners have given the go-ahead to plans to turn an Twickenham office building into six homes.

Fishguard & Goodwick United Ltd / Charles Richards has been given planning permission for the change of use at The Puzzle Academy at Messom Mews.

The scheme will see four, two-bedroom flats and houses, and two, three-bedroom flats created.

Supermarket's Bid Blocked

The Met Police have opposed a south west London supermarket's plans to sell booze until 2am over fears it would lead to more anti-social behaviour in the area.

Mediterranean Supermarket, in Twickenham, wants to extend the time it stops selling booze from 11pm to 2am every day, as part of its plans to stay open 24 hours a day.

But the Met Police and Richmond Council's environmental health services lodged objections to the booze plans, which were considered at a licensing hearing on October 14.

They raised concerns drunk customers leaving other venues in Twickenham would be drawn to the supermarket, on Heath Road, if it sold booze into the early hours of the morning.
