"Bear Garden is a musical expression, neither more nor less. It´s music - it´s everything". Allaboutjazz

With his third full-length album in the making, Bear Garden now brings his trio to the UK for an exclusive performance of his upcoming album at the London Jazz Festival.

Martin Wirén, the man behind the artist Bear Garden, is a many times rewarded saxophonist and composer with scholarships such as the Swedish STIM award and The Royal Swedish Academy of Music award.. On request from the Swedish Nobel Prize Museum, Wirén has also made a musical interpretation of the Nobel Prize winner in literature 2016, Bob Dylan.

In his early twenties, Wirén moved to Stockholm to attend The Royal College of Music. This is when he began working on his debut as a composer. Influenced by the fierce nature around his hometown Gällivare in northern Sweden, and aiming at pushing the limits of the saxophone, Bear Garden's eponymous debut album developed. The album was released in November 2019 and laid the foundation for Bear Garden´s uncompromising musical expression.

With his critically acclaimed sophomore album Sunshine Fruit, released in early 2021, Bear Garden emerged as one of the prominent artists on the contemporary Scandinavian jazz scene. With his genre-bending compositions, atmospheric soundscapes and uncompromising movement forward, Bear Garden has created a sound of his own.
