Twickenham Park Nursery celebrated 25 years of nurturing young minds in Richmond and Twickenham
Over the next few weeks, Nub News will be bringing you exclusive articles about the Head Teachers of each of our local Riverside Nursery Schools.
There are seven Riverside Nurseries in the Richmond and Twickenham area.
This first article will be spotlighting Guy Mitchell, Head Educator at Twickenham Park – which is a part of the Riverside Family and uses unique ethos and curriculum that incorporates aspects of Montessori and Reggio Emilia learning.
Twickenham Park Nursery is now over 25 years old, having opened to the public in 1998.
Guy said: "I started as Deputy Manager in 2003 and became the Head Educator in 2015, we have a capacity to take 74 Children aged 3 months to 5 years across four rooms spread over two floors.
"We also have a spacious garden that all the children utilise daily."
He added: "Our ethos is to strive to make every day a unique experience for the children in our care. We always put the child first in everything we do and let them dictate in how they want to learn and play.
"We help with children's general well-being, encourage resilience, social skills and good manners and kind choices to all."
Twickenham Park provides three balanced and nutritional meals each day, as well as a snack table in every room which serves water and healthy food and vegetables.
Guy added that Twickenham Park encourages British values, as well as having a diversity that welcomes any child from any ethnic background.
He said: "Everyone is welcome, respected and equal".
"We are constantly evolving, assessing & evaluating our practice by looking at 'Intent', 'Implementation' and 'Impact'.
"We give children the best possible start in their early education and by using the seven areas of learning in the EYFS we help the children experience the awe and wonder of the world in which they live, we make sure our children at the centre of their own learning and are school ready when they leave and we prepare them for their future success by sharing essential knowledge through cultural capital and by building activities around the children's interests.
"We are a community nursery and a home from home for all that attend and are often described by parents as 'like an extension of their family'."
