Twickenham MP Munira Wilson "welcomes" some of Labour's policies set out in the King's Speech on Wednesday, 17 July but says "we still need to go further."

King Charles III told the nation from the House of Lords Chamber the 39 bills Labour ministers hope to pass in the next parliamentary session, after winning the general election on 5 July.

Key changes promised by Labour include nationalising the railways, reforming the planning system, establishing Great British Energy, and building more homes.

Responding to the Kings Speech, Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham, Munira Wilson said:

"After a decade of Conservative government, our community and our country have been left with some immense challenges.

"Today marked the turning of a page. Whilst some changes such as measures to enforce tougher regulation on water companies and laws to tackle our mental health crisis are welcome, we still need to go further.

"The Liberal Democrats will put fixing our broken public services at the top of the agenda.

"This includes ensuring that patients have the right to see a GP within a week and that every child living in poverty has access to a hot, healthy meal at school.

"I will be pressing ministers every step of the way to ensure that the people of Twickenham get the change they need."
