YourExperience and Qualifications

• A personableand warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing ofresidents

• Hold City &Guilds/NVQ/SVQ orequivalent

• Experience inleading, motivating and inspiring ateam

• Experience of workingwith fresh seasonal food with a good understanding ofnutrition

• The ability tocreate a warm and welcoming environment within ourhomes

• Confidence engagingwith residents to create appetising and nutritious menus

• Experience working with afront of house team to ensure the restaurants are set up to a highstandard

• Good understandingof HACCP and COSHH

• Knowledgearound modified diets using the IDDSI framework (If new to care, wewill train and develop chefs on thesetechniques)

YourRole andResponsibilities

• Lead,motivate and inspire a team, develop and upskill whererequired

• Menu development,tailoring around residents to ensure we deliver person-centredhospitality

• Work with freshproduce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked of thehighest standards

• Bake freshcakes, scones and breads from scratch

• Assist the front of houseteam with setting up of the dining areas

• Work within budget,complete regular audits and stock control

• Create a warm, efficientand fun environment

• Ongoingrecruitment and retention

• Managing the performance ofthe kitchen team and front ofhouse

As a Head Chef atBarchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurantstandards without the split shifts and long hours. Our chefs havefull autonomy in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balancedmenus, whilst also taking ownership of their kitchen and ongoingteam development.

We are exceptionally proud ofour Barchester Chef Academy, where chefs have the opportunity tolearn new techniques and further develop their skills, whilst alsosharing their knowledge to support the growth of others across thebusiness. This fantastic academy experience is held throughout theyear and is offered to all of our chefs.

Ourinternal Learning and Development team also offer industryrecognised apprenticeships and further qualifications to chefs andhospitality team members who are looking to build upon and/ordevelop their skills.
