Whether you're a July 4th-celebrating expat or just like a glass of wine, there's no better excuse to pop open a bottle of American wine than Independence Day, and Twickenham has some gems on offer.

Californian wines have long been heralded for their quality and come in an array of styles - from big Napa Valley Cabs to vibrant Chardonnays from the coastal regions of Sonoma.

What are your favourite Californian wines? We'd love to hear them. Email [email protected] if you've got a favourite you'd like to review.

In the mean time here are a few you can pick up in Twickenham this weekend:

Marked 96 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards, J Cuvée 20 Brut NV has an elegant mousse and a complex palate of lemon meringue, apple, and ginger snap, which makes for a wonderful aperitif or match for seafood dishes such as lobster ravioli.

Talbott Vineyards Kali Hart Chardonnay 2018, Monterey

Talbott Vineyards Kali Hart Chardonnay source fruit from the idyllic Santa Lucia Highlands. With a long, cool growing season, the grapes develop character, intensity and depth for which the vineyard has become famous. These conditions give the Chardonnay a wonderfully-bright acidity and fresh, concentrated flavours that other regions struggle to emulate. Bearflag Zinfandel 2017, Sonoma County

Sonoma County native Aaron Piotter harnesses the wild, untamed Zinfandel vines to create this bold, powerful red that's a tribute to the Bear Flag revolt of 1846. The wine opens with aromas of blueberry pie and sweet spices which follow onto the palate and are joined by notes of toasted oak, vanilla and black fruit that lingers on the finish. Rich, full-bodied yet with a smooth mouth-feel, Bearflag pairs best with bold flavours such as barbecued red meats.

Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Napa Valley

The grapes for this wine were selected from several premium Napa Valley vineyards, including Cypress Ranch Vineyard, Sun Lake, and Sage Canyon. This allows Louis M. Martini to craft a complex Cabernet Sauvignon that represents both high elevation and valley floor fruit in a beautifully balanced blend. Densely layered, this wine showcases plush notes of cherry cobbler and wild blackberries backed by hints of cedar and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and elegant, this Cabernet has a polished mouthfeel and an exceptionally-long finish.
