In 1883 Strawberry Hill was purchased by the wealthy European banker Herman, Baron De Stern and the house remained in the family for the next forty years. This lecture reassesses the collecting activities of his son Herbert Stern (1851–1919), 1st Baron Michelham, and his wife, Aimée (1882–1927), at the start of the twentieth century, when their lives were lived partly in France and partly in Britain.
